Instagram is banned in Turkey
Meta-owned social media Instagram has been shut down in Turkey. The announcement was made by the country's communications authority. News Al Jazeera and Reuters.
The social media has been banned in the country after a top Turkish official reportedly criticized Instagram for 'censorship' on a Hamas-related content.
Aljazeera reported that Instagram.com has been blocked by a decision taken on Friday (August 2). However, the reason for the ban or how long Instagram will be closed in the country was not mentioned.
Recently, Turkish Presidency Communications Director Fahrettin Altun complained that Instagram is blocking sympathetic posts about the killing of Hamas leader Ismail Haniya.
